Father Kenneth J. Delano

FALL RIVER, Mass. — Father Kenneth J. Delano passed away in the Catholic Memorial Home on May 28 at the age of 83.

Father Delano was born in Taunton on April 12, 1934.  He was the son of the late Kenneth and Isabel (Tatro) Delano. He is survived by his sister, Dolores Cote, her husband, Paul W. Cote, of Taunton, and sister-in-law, Dorothea Delano of North Carolina, wife of his late brother, Donald.  He also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Father Delano was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop James L. Connolly on April 2, 1960. After ordination, he served as parochial vicar of St. Patrick Parish in Fall River, St. Patrick Parish in Wareham, and St. Mary Church in New Bedford.  

In 1988, he served as pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Church in New Bedford.  From 1991 until his retirement in 2003, Father Delano served as pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Fall River.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on June 1 at Annunciation of the Lord Church, 31 First Street in Taunton. Funeral arrangements were handled by O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home of Taunton.
