FALL RIVER, Mass. — The 2014 Catholic Charities Appeal campaign that began shortly after last year’s ended, drew to a close this week, but James A. Campbell, diocesan director of Development told The Anchor, “It’s never too late for people, foundations and businesses to assist the appeal, or any other diocesan ministry, no matter what time of year.”
Campbell, who spearheaded his second Appeal campaign, said that there’s “been a flurry of gifts coming in,” during the current Appeal’s final week. “It will be a while before we know the exact figures though.”
Campbell also pointed out that even though the Appeal is closed for this year, helping the diocesan ministries assist others “is a year-round proposition.” He said that any monies collected now for the Catholic Charities Appeal will be applied to next year’s campaign.
Through the newly-created Planned Giving website, individuals, foundations and businesses can offer financial support to the Appeal, the St. Mary’s Education fund, or other diocesan ministries, year-round.
“The new website offers the option to donors to choose the ministry they prefer to assist,” he added. “This can be done as a lump sum, or an installment plan. The need is always there.”
The website also offers options on planned giving through gifts of cash, stocks and bonds, real estate, retirement assets, and insurance policies.
The final tallies from the 2014 Catholic Charities Appeal will appear in a future Anchor edition.
